Use of Riko Linux

Riko Linux

Riko Linux is virtual Linux environment built on the cloud.
You can use the Riko Linux by connecting remotely via the Internet from on-campus or off-campus.

Terms of use

• Eligibility

  Students and faculty involved in Core Computer Science (group B4 course) or classes for which Riko Linux has been applied for use.
  ※To use Riko Linux with classes expect Core Computer Science (group B4 course), an application must be made by the instructor.

• Purpose of use

  Limited to use in classes and self-study on Core Computer Science (group B4 course) or classes for which Riko Linux has been applied for use.
  Don’t use Riko Linux for any purpose excepting the intended purposes.

• Disk quota for home directory：3GB

  ※Please note that if you exceed the amount of storage 3GB, you will no longer be able to login and save files.
  ※Please delete unnecessary folders and files appropriately.

  To use Riko Linux, please obey the Riko Linux use rules [in Japanese].

Prohibited matter

Following acts are prohibited when using Riko Linux.

• Transferring or leasing User ID to third party.
• Password disclosure to a third party.
• Violation of privacy and rights such as copy right under the provision of law.
• Acts affecting network operation system.
• False impersonation.
• Commercial use.
• Illegal use of the system and aiding those acts.
• Unfair possession or waste of Riko Linux resources.
• Any other acts that the Administrative Office of Information and Multimedia Technology deems inappropriate based on the Riko Linux use rules.

※Use in extracurricular activities such as club is prohibited.
It is not allowed to store data, folders, files excepting Core Computer Science and classes for which Riko Linux has been applied for use (Backup of your private data is prohibited).

Others

• If any action is deemed undesirable by the Management Committee of Administrative Office of Information and Multimedia Technology, the use of the service will be suspended or the user ID will be revoked.
• We do not provide backups of files created by users. Please back up important files by yourself.
• In order to get space amount at Riko Linux, we may delete extension packs and dump files.
• The connection to the Linux servers will be terminated at 12 midnight daily. If you hope to continue the Linux servers use after 12 midnight, please make sure to “save your data and log out before 12 midnight” and then, “log in after 12 midnight”.
• During late night hours (everyday from 12 midnight to 6:00 a.m.) and long holiday periods, we may operate with a reduced number of the Linux servers in operation.
