What is Maple

Maple is a math software which includes functions to find solution of simultaneous equation and differential equation, numerical caluculations, interactive glaphic functions.
Please see below for more information.

License Types

There are two licenses for Maple.
For each license, please obtain the “Installer” and “Purchase Code” from the Download Station.
When using the licensed software, please be sure to read and comply with the Terms of Use and Pledge.

(1)Education/Research License

Qualifications Faculty members belonging to the Faculty of Science and Engineering
Installable PC Only university-owned PCs installed at the following campuses managed by the Faculty of Science and Technology.

Nishi-waseda Campus, Kikui-cho Campus, Kagami Memorial Institute for Materials Research, Center for Advanced Biomedical Sciences (for Waseda University laboratories only), Building 120/121, Kitakyushu Campus

※Other campuses/laboratories, such as the Waseda campus, are not eligible for this service.

※Shared spaces at the Center for Advanced Biomedical Sciences and laboratories outside of Waseda University are not eligible for this service.

Restrictions on purpose of use For educational and non-profit research purposes only.
Number of available licenses No limit

※Since the total number of licenses is 10,000 for the University-wide system, if the limit is reached, the system will not be available.

Usage period No expiration date

(2)Self-study License

Qualifications Faculty, staff, and undergraduate students belonging to the Faculty of Science and Engineering
Installable PC Personally owned PC
Restrictions on purpose of use For class and self-study purposes only.

※Use for business purposes (administrative work, work related to university management, etc.) and commercial use, including part-time work and internships, is not permitted.

Number of available licenses One per person
Usage period For a single year and as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.
※If you are a graduate student, please read the following notes.
  • (a)For use in research, thesis work
    • Using a personally-owned PC
      Please purchase a license at your laboratory.
    • Using a university-owned PC
      Please use a university-owned PC with an educational/research license installed under the management responsibility of your teacher.
  • (b)For use in classes (including assignment work)
    • Using a personally-owned PC
      A separate application from your faculty advisor is required.
      Please follow the procedure below. (Applications from students are not accepted.)

      (1)Application from academic advisor

      Please apply from the following menu on MyWaseda.

      (2)Authorization of DownloadStation
      Authorization to download the “installer” and “serial key” from the DownloadStation will be provided to the student.

      Site License Terms of Use
      It is available under the following conditions:
      (1)Education/Research License

      Only faculty members belonging to the Faculty of Science and Engineering can apply.
      This license is for educational and non-commercial research purposes only. Business use (office work, operations related to university administration, etc.) and commercial use including part-time jobs and interns, is not permitted.
      This service is only available on the university-owned computers at the following campuses managed by the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

      If you need it for research or other purposes, please purchase a license at your laboratory.

      This license is for self-study purposes only. It cannot be used for business purposes (office work, operations related to university administration, etc.).
      Each person may install the software on up to one personal PC.
      Since the license is for a single year, it needs to be renewed every March.

      Version
      ※Only faculty members are provided with the “Latest version” and “Previous version”.
      ※We only provide students with “Previous version” that have been tested by the faculty.
      Download
      (1)Off-campus access
      To use the Download Station from off-campus, a VPN connection is required.
      For more information about VPN connection, please refer to the following web page.

      ※Currently, the load on the VPN device is high due to the influence of the Novel Coronavirus, and there are cases where the VPN connection cannot be made, or the connection is cut off in the middle.
      If the VPN connection doesn’t work, try using a VPN connection and software download at night when there are few users.

      (2)DownloadStation
      After logging in to MyWaseda, please follow the steps below to access the DownloadStation.

      MyWaseda → Global menu「IT Services」 → Left side menu [Available Software] > [Download Station]
      From the DownloadStation screen, select the software you wish to use.

      ※Please contact us from the contact information for the following cases.

      The installer you downloaded at Download Station has expired and you want to download it again.
      You have changed your PC and want to install SOLIDWORKS again on your new PC.

      ※The list of software displayed in the list differs depending on affiliation and qualification.
      ※Click on the “Select” button to download the authentication program (Maple installer).
      ※Click on the “Help” button to download the installation manual.
      ※If you are a faculty member, please apply for the use of the software from “Use of comprehensive software for faculty members” and it will be available after approval.
      (3)If the download fails
      Please use the Downloader (※) to try the download.
      ※It is a tool that specializes in downloading authentication programs.
      ※Please use this if you have run the download several times and it fails with no improvement, or if the download cannot be completed due to a network disconnect.
      ※Only the Windows version is available.
      Please refer to the following for information on how to obtain/install and use the Downloader.

      Try installing from “DS_Downloader_Win_999101.exe” which is saved in the “Software” folder.

      Install
      (1)Run an authentication program
      Run the downloaded “Authentication Program” and enter the authentication program number and password.
      When you press the “Run” button, you will get a “serial number” for the installation.
      (2)Installing Maple
      When the Maple installation screen appears, please follow the steps to complete the installation.
      To activate, enter the “Purchase Code” at the end.
      Update

      Faculty
      Please get the purchase code for the update from DownloadStation.
      ※Please refer to the manual uploaded to DownloadStation for the update procedure.
      Student
      To renew your license, you will need to uninstall the software and install it again.
      After uninstallation, please obtain the installer from DownloadStation and newly install the software.
